ACUPUNCTURE OR OSTEOPATHY WHICH TREATMENT TO CHOOSE?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Let us remember that our constitution has a physical component and an energetic component, and that these two aspects are intimately linked. Just as a physical injury disrupts energy circuits, an energy disorder affects physical integrity. When we act on one, we inevitably have an impact on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, a health problem usually has a dominant one. Sometimes the physical aspect is preponderant, other times it is the energetic aspect. If the patient knows how to distinguish this, he already has a good starting point to guide his choice between acupuncture and osteopathy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COMPLEMENTARITY OSTEOPATHY \/ ACUPUNCTURE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These two medicines have a global vision of the body and health. And they are very complementary. The acupuncturist works the energy sphere. And the osteopath works in particular the physical plane, called “somatic”. Sometimes to obtain more lasting or complete results the acupuncturist will refer the patient to the osteopath, and vice versa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Osteopaths and acupuncturists are used to collaborating together, at least for patients who need it and are comfortable with both of these two approaches. When this collaboration is indicated, the customer can easily use it, and for its most a great benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOW DOES THE ACUPUNCTURIST WORK?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To treat the energetic level the acupuncturist uses different means. One of the best known is the one where it acts on acupuncture points located along the meridians, these energy routes on the surface of the body. Often he will do it through needles. Sometimes during treatment the patient will feel an “electric current” pass through the treated area, witnessing an release of energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditional Chinese Medicine also uses plants and its pharmacopoeia, suction cups, moxibustions, etc. She tells us about a balance between the 5 elements of our energy constitution. It names these 5 elements; Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. This notion is universal. It is found in Ayurveda, Feng Shui, and several other great medical traditions that are interested in the cyclical movement of all things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOW DOES THE OSTEOPATH WORK?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Manual therapy par excellence, osteopathy will use various techniques. Among these there are functional, structural (sometimes called osteo-articular techniques), myofascial (muscles and fascias), cranial and craniosacral techniques, fluid techniques, visceral, pumping, and others. Often osteopaths will complete the consultation of some dietary or postural advice, exercises, etc. Major principles guide the osteopathic approach.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Sound advice and personal research can help the inexperienced patient to orient themselves. However, the acupuncturist and the osteopath are used to collaborating.
