MASSAGE THERAPY OR OSTEOPATHY<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Many forms of massage, which today we call “massage therapy”, have existed since a very ancient time. Think for example of shiatsu, reflexology or jin shin do. As for the Fathers of osteopathy as we know it in our time, they said that they did not create or invent anything. That they simply “opened a window on what has always existed”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can understand that these two know-how tell us about their distant origins because the human being has always known that the hand can heal, that through it passes healing forces. In his Autobiography Andrew T. STILL writes “Give me the age of God and I will give you the age of osteopathy”.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPECIFICITY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

However, people do not turn to these two specialties for the same reasons. When their request is more at the level of relaxation, they often call on the massage therapist. And when it is more at the clinical level, they consult the osteopath more frequently. And for good reason; The vocation, training and therapeutic orientation of these two disciplines is different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The indications of osteopathy are very extensive. As for massage therapy, it includes a variety of techniques that respond well to the needs of relaxation, lymphatic drainage, to stimulate body awareness, blood circulation, the elimination of toxins or certain organic or visceral functions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

COORDINATION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is why we often see in the same clinic a massage therapist and an osteopath. Their collaboration is appreciated and sometimes beneficial. It is rare that the use of these disciplines by the same client in the same period is contraindicated. However, chronological coordination is often important between two treatments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because it is a question of making judicious use of the vital energy of the body, energy on which any process of self-healing is based. The more the body is treated, the more vital energy it will use to respond positively to the treatment. And not all patients have the same level of vital energy. Some require a longer rest period between two treatments in order to integrate it well.
